Steps to find and import Twitter followers to Bluesky

Before diving in, it’s important to note that finding Twitter friends and exporting them to BlueSky involves a few easy steps. This includes creating an App password and using a third-party management tool called Sky Follower Bridge for the process. Let’s break it down step by step.

Step 1: Create a Bluesky app password

The first step in exporting your Twitter following list to Bluesky is creating an App password. Start by logging into your Bluesky account and navigating to the Settings section. From there, scroll down to the Advanced tab, select App Passwords, and click on Add App Password

Write a password of your choice, save it securely, and copy it for later use in Step 5. After setting up the App password, the next step involves installing the Sky Follower Bridge extension, a third-party developer tool recommended for its ease of use. This tool simplifies the process of finding and following your Twitter connections on Bluesky, allowing you to seamlessly replicate your Twitter following list.

Step 2: Install the Sky Follower Bridge Extension

To locate Twitter users on Bluesky, the next step is to install the Sky Follower Bridge extension on your Chrome web browser.

Start by opening Chrome on your computer. Access the Chrome Web Store either by typing "chrome://extensions" in the address bar or by searching for "Chrome Web Store" online.

Once there, search for "Sky Follower Bridge" and select its listing to open the details page. If you can’t find it, use this direct link. Review the extension’s features, user feedback, and screenshots, then click "Add to Desktop" or "Install."

A confirmation dialog will appear, outlining the required permissions. Ensure they meet your expectations and click "Add extension" to proceed. Chrome will then download and install the extension, and you’ll receive a notification upon completion.

Look for the extension’s icon near the address bar, or access it via the browser menu. Keep in mind that installation steps might differ slightly based on your device or browser updates. Always verify permissions and trustworthiness before installing extensions. Once completed, you’ll be ready to move on to Step 3.

Step 3: Access Your Twitter Follower Page

In this third step of exporting your Twitter following list to Bluesky, you’ll need to navigate to your Twitter follower page. Begin by opening your preferred web browser—Chrome is recommended—on your computer or mobile device. Avoid using the Twitter app for this task; instead, log in to your account through the web version.

Simply type "twitter.com" in the browser's address bar, and log in using your credentials. If you’re not already a user, you’ll need to create an account first. Once logged in, you’ll land on your Twitter home page, where you can see your feed and tweets from accounts you follow. To access your follower page, click your profile picture or avatar in the top-right corner to open a drop-down menu. Select “Profile” or “View Profile” to reach your profile page.

Here, navigate to the "Followers" tab, which will display a list of users following your account. You can scroll through this list to view your followers and engage with their profiles. Alternatively, use this direct link: https://x.com/followers?mx=2 to access your follower page.

Why Should I Create a Bluesky App Password?

Creating an app password for Bluesky is a smart and secure way to enhance your experience, especially when using third-party tools. It provides an additional layer of security by safeguarding your main account password while allowing limited access for external applications. This ensures that even if the app password is compromised, unauthorized users won’t gain full control of your account.

App passwords also enable seamless integration with tools like the Sky Follower Bridge, making it easy to import your Twitter followers and reconnect with familiar connections.
